Day Four of Education Week November 2023 as the Archdiocese of Gulu continues to celebrate Education Week for the first time with the theme "Reawakening and repositioning the Church and other Stakeholders to Transform Education in Acoli Sub-Region" The colourful and charming celebration is being held at Kaunda Grounds in Gulu City, Northern Uganda, and the Education Week November 2023 has began on Monday, November 13th, 2023 with the Holy Mass that was led Dr. John Baptist Odama, the Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese.
Today, Thursday, November 16th, 2023 a day when Teachers and Parents will have a reflection on education the 4th Day began with the Holy Mass with Fr. Eric Justin Uma as the Main Celebrant. Fr. Eric Justin Uma is the Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Parish, Gulu. He urged Parents to do more for their Children and he exhorted the people to work hard to transform the status of education in Acoli Sub-Region. In his homily, he asked the people to have low self-esteem. "How will you face the future if you don't have self-esteem?" And he told the children that they can do better. He noted that most of the schools are performing very poorly. Children have no guidance they are on their own and he requested Fr. Robert Odong who is the Education Secretary for the Archdiocese of Gulu to be tough on the issue of education. We must safeguard our own Institutions this is not being segregation, but we must safeguard it. He called all the Learners [Pupils and [Students] to avoid acts that destroy their lives.
Teachers who have not done well should ask for forgiveness. "Many Teachers have Betrayed their Calling in Teaching," he also exclaimed that we should pray for the Teachers and policymakers to have quality education. Education Week November 2023 will end on Saturday, November 18th, 2023 with with a Fundraising Dinner at Acoli Inn Hotel, Gulu. His Grace Dr. John Baptist Odama, the Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese will be the Guest of Honour.
