Lent is the Liturgical Season marked by the Holy Church in preparation for Easter. It emphasizes the practice of prayer, almsgiving, and fasting, along with meditation on the Word of God, conversion, and reconciliation. We are invited in the period of Lent to the exercise of charity; if we desire to reach Easter sanctified in our being, we must place exceptional interest in acquiring this virtue, which contains all others and covers a multitude of sins. We must avoid every sin that keeps us away from God that will not push to the Lord Christ Jesus. Sin separates us from the love of the Lord God and sin separates us from the mercy of the Lord God.
It's very crucial to note that facts Lent should make us closer to the Lord God and be rooted in the Lord. "Lent is an Intense Period and Total Transformation for Christians" The period of Lent begins today on Ash Wednesday [Wednesday, February 14th, 2024], when the Priest during the celebration of the Holy Mass blesses and imposes ashes obtained from the palms blessed on the previous year's Palm Sunday when we celebrated the Passion of the Lord and ends on Holy Thursday afternoon [Thursday, March 28th, 2024], before the Mass of the Lord's Supper.
Fasting and Abstinence: Fasting consists of eating only one "full" meal a day, while abstinence refers to not eating meat. Both sacrifices acknowledge the need to perform acts for the good of the Holy Church and our brethren and in reparation for our sins. We have three Lenten Practices; Prayer: an indispensable condition for encountering the Lord God. Mortification: this should be lived daily without the need for great sacrifices. Charity: that is rooted in the deepest part of the human heart.
Lent is a time for profound reflection, spiritual conversion, and perfect preparation for the Paschal Mystery. If we are good in our lives, we can encounter the Lord God.
