His Holiness Pope Francis greets from the window of the Apostolic Palace in St. Peter’s Square as he gives his Angelus Address for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Friday, December 8th, 2023. The 86-year-old Pontiff who will turn 87 years old on Sunday, December 17th, 2023 pronounced yesterday [Friday] that the Catholic Church will celebrate its first World Day of Children in May 2024. In his communication during his Angelus Address, "The Roman Catholic Pontiff Makes a Pronouncement for World Children's Day" on Friday, December 8th, 2023 for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, His Holiness Pope Francis communicated that the Catholic Church will have first World Children’s Day and will be celebrated in Rome between Saturday, May 25th - Sunday, May 26th, 2024.
He said “And now I have the joy of announcing that on May 25th and 26th next year, we will celebrate the first World Day of Children in Rome" Pope Francis went on to say “Like Jesus, we want to put children at the center and care for them" He elucidated that the day, organized by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Culture and Education, will seek to answer the question “What kind of world do we wish to pass on to the children who are growing up?”
An inspired little child and a 9-year-old boy called Alessandro, proposed the idea to Pope Francis to have an International occasion for the Children like the one of the Youth [World Youth Day], an International gathering for young people from the age of 16 - 35. With Pope Francis' pronouncement, the Holy See will envision thousands of Children from all over the world to travel to Rome for the occasion with the Holy Father Pope Francis.
Pope Francis is close to the Church he is close to the Christians, he cares about the Church, and he cares for all the Christians having previously established the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly in 2021. World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly will be celebrated on Sunday, July 28th, 2024.
I think we need to be near these Children these human persons who have not yet reached adulthood, they need our direction, they need proper guidance as they will eventually advance to adulthood, and we should show them tremendous direction. I thank the Catholic Church for trying to be so close to the Children.
