Today Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 is the First Sunday of Advent. The Season of Advent is a period of preparation for the Birth of the Lord our Saviour Jesus Christ. We also start the New Liturgical Year as designed by the Catholic Church we start the Cycle/Year B which begins with the excellent Liturgical celebration First Sunday of Advent in the Church. As Christians, we are called to prepare for the Second Coming of the Lord. The Lord is coming but the day of His coming or the Hour is not known by anyone. "The Season of Advent is Substantial by Joyful Anticipation of the Coming of the Lord" As we reflect the First Coming of the Redeemer among mankind at our time we have to prepare for the Lord. We have to direct our lives, minds, and hearts towards Christ Jesus' coming. We have to direct ourselves to the Lord. We have to direct ourselves to Christ Jesus.
Christ Jesus tells us to be watchful and vigilant. We are to stay awake and watch for His Second Coming. We should live when He comes, He should find us waiting for Him with great hope in Him. We should live when comes, He should find us watchful doing what He told us to do in the Gospel: loving the Lord God and loving our brothers and sisters; living a moral life. May He find us doing our Christian obligation when He comes. May He encounter us prepared to welcome Him when He comes.
Merciful God, our Father wants us to be keen to His proximity at all times we must be keen enough during this Season of Advent, should always stay more spiritual, and more conscious of His mercy for us we should always stay more spiritual, and more conscious of His love for us. God the Father, we pray to You in this Season of Advent, that by keeping up awake in faith, hope, and love every moment of our lives, we may fully prepare ourselves for the Second Coming of Your Beloved Jesus Christ.
