It's unbelievable that there was no one to remind Mercy Lakica Lucky that she is precious and that she should fight hard even if things are difficult in her life with much depression, and stay close to her. "A Life is Precious: Seeking Help Amidst Depression: The Suicide and Tragic Death of Mercy Lakica Lucky from Gulu City, Northern Uganda." The Tragic Death of Mercy Lakica Lucky, who committed suicide and died on Monday, July 27th, 2026, has left her Family, Friends, and the people of Gulu City, Northern Uganda in great grief even me who did not know her personally my heart is held to grievance. Every life is a precious gift, and the loss of a Young Person reminds us that behind every smile there may be hidden pain. Rather than judging those who struggle, we should respond with Compassion, Understanding, and Love.

‎Depression is a real and quite serious condition, but it's not one that anyone has to face alone. If you are overwhelmed by Sadness, Hopelessness, Anxiety, or Thoughts of giving up, please speak to someone you trust: a Family Member, a Close and Trusted Friend, a Religious Leader, a Good Counselor, or a Qualified Mental Health Professional. Seeking help is a sign of courage, not weakness - this is what Mercy Lakica Lucky should have opted to do rather than committing suicide. She made a bad decision.

‎As a Community, we have to create Safe Spaces where Young People can talk openly about their Struggles without Fear of Stigma. "It's so excruciating to see our Youth keep dying by suicide. I feel so sad when the Youth leaves the earthly life through suicide. It's time that we must protect the Youth". Let's check on one another, listen with empathy, and encourage those who are hurting to seek professional support. A kind conversation, timely support, and genuine care can make a meaningful difference in someone's life. The Youth and Young People need professional support every day.

‎May the Soul of Mercy Lakica find the forgiveness and mercy of the Lord God; may the Lord God forgive her imperfections, forgive her for taking her life, and may her Family find comfort and strength during this difficult time. Let this heartbreaking moment remind us to value every life, extend Compassion to those in Pain, and encourage Hope even in life's darkest moments.
