With the theme "Rooted in the Eucharist, United With St. Joseph" with the grand Celebration on Friday, March 19th, 2027 at St. Joseph's Cathedral Gulu: "A Scintillation of Moments of Joy of Great Encounter with the 'Icons of Faith' at Christ the King Parish Kitgum as Gulu Archdiocese Organizes the Diamond Jubilee Celebration." The Celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Gulu Archdiocese was already felt with scintillation of great moments of faith and unity at Christ the King Parish from Saturday, April 11th, 2026, Saturday, April 18th, 2026, welcomed the "Icons of Faith" and the Recitation of the Rosary to St. Joseph and I joined the Christians of Christ the King Parish Kitgum in taking the "Icons of Faith" to Sacred Heart Parish Madi-Opei. It's great that these "Icons of Faith" will be in all 35 Parishes in the Archdiocese of Gulu and each Parish will have one week with the "Icons of Faith."
It's not only a remembrance of the Diamond Jubilee of faith and mission, but also a profound spiritual encounter with the “Icons of Faith” Holy Eucharist and the Statue of St. Joseph the Patron of the Archdiocese of Gulu preeminently who has shaped the life of the Church in the region. This milestone joyfully offered the Christian Community an opportunity to reflect on its journey, renew its commitment, and draw inspiration from those who have lived the Gospel with courage and dedication. The present Christians of the Archdiocese of Gulu need to have commitment and draw much inspiration rooted in the Holy Eucharist.
The “Icons of Faith” in this context are the Missionaries, Catechists, Priests, Religious Men and Women, and Lay Faithful whose sacrifices laid the foundation of the Diocese. Much to note, many of them endured hardships, insecurity, and limited resources, especially during difficult periods such as the insurgency in Northern Uganda for two (2) decades. Yet, through their unwavering trust in God, they kept the flame of faith alive. Their lives remain a testimony to resilience, hope, and steadfast commitment to Christ. The Sacrament of Holy Eucharist keeps the Faithful and St. Joseph lovely United with all the Faithful.
The Diamond Jubilee Celebration happily brings together generations of Believers who witnessed the early days of the Diocese and the Youth who are now entrusted with its future. Through Liturgical Celebrations, testimonies, and communal gatherings, the Faithful encounter these Beauteous Icons not only in memory but also in the living witness of those who continue to serve in the Archdiocese of Gulu. The Eucharistic celebration stands at the center, reminding all the Faithful that Christ is the ultimate foundation and source of the Church’s mission.
This also serves as a moment of gratitude. The Community gives thanks to the Lord God for the gift of faith, for the growth of the Archdiocese, and for the countless lives transformed through Evangelization, Education, Healthcare, and Social Outreach. Truly great Institutions established by the Church have significantly contributed to the Social and Spiritual development of the people of the Archdiocese and beyond.
The Diamond Jubilee Celebration is a call to renewal. As the Church celebrates 75 years, it's invited to deepen its mission in a rapidly changing world. The Faithful are encouraged to emulate the virtues of the "Icons of Faith" Humility, Service, Unity, and Love while addressing contemporary challenges such as Poverty, Youth Unemployment, and Moral decline and I would be gleeful if the Church could put more effort into addressing those contemporary challenges. The Celebration of the Diamond Jubilee emphasizes that the legacy of faith must not only be preserved but also actively lived and passed on.
I know the Diamond Jubilee Celebration in the Archdiocese of Gulu will be a sacred moment of Encounter, Remembrance, and Mission. Faithful witnesses and reaffirms the Church’s commitment to continue building a vibrant Christian Community "Rooted in the Eucharist, United With St. Joseph". As the Archdiocese of Gulu moves forward, the example of these "Icons of Faith will remain a guiding light for future generations and I look forward to the Celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Gulu Archdiocese with great love and unity among the Faithful and "Celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Gulu Archdiocese that has moved with us and helped to witness Christ, showing much love for the Holy Eucharist and drawing inspiration from the Diocesan's Patron - St. Joseph."
