A Presidential Debate is one of the most critical moments in any democratic election. It provides a National Platform where Candidates present their ideas, defend their records, and respond to public concerns in real time. Unlike Campaign rallies or paid advertisements, a Debate places all Contenders on the same stage, giving Citizens an equal opportunity to evaluate their leadership qualities, clarity of vision, and ability to think under pressure. We shall have 8 Presidential Candidates, and the Citizens should try to listen to the men who want to become the next President of Uganda, with the election set to be on Thursday, January 15th, 2026.
"Are the Presidential Candidates Ready for the Presidential Debate in the Race for the January General Elections 2026?" Candidates are asked questions on key issues, including the Economy, Security, Education, healthcare, foreign policy, and National Unity. Some Candidates will struggle to answer some questions and their responses reveal not only their knowledge of National challenges but also their plans for overcoming them. A strong Candidate communicates with confidence, uses evidence to support the arguments, and speaks in a manner that resonates with Citizens from all backgrounds. Other Candidates may annoy the Citizens on the day of the Presidential Debate.
Moreover, a Presidential Debate encourages peaceful political competition. It demonstrates that leadership can be contested through ideas and dialogue rather than violence or intimidation. For the Youth, such Debates serve as civic education - showing them how respectful disagreement and National engagement can build a stronger Democracy.
A Presidential Debate is not just a political event; it is peradventure, a National Classroom, a Platform for accountability, and a reflection of the Nation’s democratic maturity. When conducted fairly and broadcast widely, it empowers Citizens to choose leaders who embody Vision, Integrity, and Commitment to the Common Good. So, Sunday, November 30th, 2025, at 20:00 EAT, that will be live on NTV Uganda, we shall have the Uganda Presidential Debate and shall we have the best from the 8 minds or shall we exclaim that this time we have the best men contesting for the President? I hope it will be a better National Classroom. I hope it will be a little more of a Presidential Debate, and fascinatingly I want to hear a Quality Debate.
