The Chinese Communist Party is making life so difficult for Jimmy Lai. Jimmy Lai is a prominent critic of the Chinese Communist Party, he was arrested on August 10th, 2020 by the Hong Kong Police on charges of violation of the territory's new national security law, an action which prompted widespread criticism. Jimmy Lai was given bail on August 12th, but on December 3rd, he was accused of fraud, and his bail was revoked by the court. The court decided to jail him until April 2021, marking the first time Jimm Lai has been detained. He regarded his imprisonment as "the summit of his own life".
In July 2019, Jimmy Lai met with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and National Security Adviser John Bolton. Jimmy Lai also said "We in Hong Kong are fighting for the shared values of the US against China. We are fighting their war in the enemy camp." In December 2020, Jimmy Lai was awarded the "Freedom of Press Award" by Reporters Without Borders for his role in founding Apple Daily, a news outlet under Lai's pro-democracy leadership that "still dares to openly criticize the Chinese regime and which widely covered last year's Pro-Democracy protests." On 29 December, Lai resigned from his roles with Next Digital as Director and Chairman of the Board. In April 2021, he was sentenced to an additional 14 months in prison for organizing illegal protests in the country. In September 2023, Jimmy Lai remains detained in solitary confinement at Hong Kong’s Stanley Prison.
As thing stands now, "Chinese National and Catholic Convert Jimmy Lai Needs Interventional Help" Jimmy Lai's trial a Catholic convert and a Prominent Pro-democracy Activist, will begin in Hong Kong today [Monday, December 18th, 2023] and if found guilty under the Chinese Communist Party’s national security law, Jimmy Lai, who has already served around over 1,000 days in Prison, could face a life sentence. The charges against him include collusion with foreign forces. His Apple Daily Newspaper was also forcefully closed by the China-backed Government two years ago. He faces a hard life.
He needs interventional help; we need to pray for him, Jimmy Lai is a practicing Catholic Christian.
Lord God, please defend and save Jimmy Lai who is suffering from injustice in his country, and those who are lacking injustice and freedom especially your servants who are faithful to You. Strengthen them, Lord God, comfort them and let them understand that You are with them in their lives.
