Today Sunday, March 24th, 2024 we celebrate Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday referred to as Sunday of the Lord’s Passion of the Lord, marks the beginning of the Christian Holy Week, in commemoration of Jesus’ triumphant entrance into the City of Jerusalem before His arrest, crucifixion, and resurrection. Palm leaves are blessed and used in processions, and the essence of the Liturgy is unique with a long reading of the Passion of the Lord, often with parts taken by the Priest and Lectors. Christians use the image of the Palm branch [Palm leaves] to represent the victory, the victory of Christ, after the Liturgy, Catholic Christians take their Palm leaves to their home to serve as sacramentals and must be kept properly. Next year 2025, the Palm leaves will be burned to serve as the ashes for Ash Wednesday.
The people of Jerusalem sang “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the kingdom of our Father David that is coming! Hosanna in the highest!” Our glory and praise to the Lord: "Palm Sunday 2024: The Lord's Passion and Sharing in the Fruits of Christ’s Passion" Our celebration of Palm Sunday ushers us into the commemoration of the Passion of the Lord that's Suffering, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem. In the solemn celebrations of the Holy Week that follow, we reflect deeply on the Lord's Passion and pray that we may be resuscitated in our lives and receive the fruits of the Lord’s paschal mystery. Christ's Passion has given us Christianity and a life to be with the Lord.
Beloved God, our Father, through the Suffering, Death, and Resurrection of Your Beloved Son Jesus Christ, You have given us eternal redemption we believe in You. We humbly entreat You, to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, so that we may all arrive to share in the glory of eternal life with You.
