Today Sunday, June 8th, 2025, it's the Solemnity of Pentecost Sunday, in which we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Our Lady Mother Mary the Mother of Christ and the Apostles while they were in Jerusalem, Pentecost is one of the most important festivities of the Liturgical calendar in the Mother Church and having given birth to the Holy Catholic Church that courageously bears witness to the risen Lord, Jesus Christ’s promise of sending an Advocate the Counselors the Holy Spirit to guide His disciples is fulfilled.
The Holy Catholic Church believes the Holy Spirit descended upon Mother Mary, the Holy Mother of Jesus, at the same time together with the Apostles of the Jesus. The descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost shows the love of the Lord God and the Saviour Jesus Christ.
Pentecost is a significant Christian celebration commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit that marks the beginning of the Apostles' public ministry and the spread of Christianity celebrated fifty days after Easter, Pentecost highlights themes of renewal, empowerment, and the unity of believers through the Holy Spirit. "Pentecost: The Gushing of Divine Grace at the Birth of the Mother Church and the Gifts of Holy Spirit." The Holy Spirit is sent for a purpose to remind the disciples of the teachings of Jesus Christ and to instruct them further; to invest the Apostles with the authority to forgive sins; to build up the faith and unity of the Christian Community through various gifts of the spirit. These gifts of the Holy Spirit Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord are also given to us the believers of Christ. We should live like Christians who have received the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
With humility and veneration, celebrating the Solemnity of Pentecost and the Birthday of the Holy Catholic Church, we ask the Lord God our Holy Father, to give us the gifts of the Holy Spirit and accompany us in our Families, in our Communities, in our World, in our Church and our Lives. Holy Father our God, may the great Celebration of the Solemnity of Pentecost fill us with love and peace.
