In our Christian life, Advent is the first or the expected second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Advent is one of the special seasons in the Holy Catholic Church where Christians prepare their hearts and minds to celebrate Christmas the birth of the Lord. A period or season of the Church Year between Advent Sunday and Christmas. With the first Sunday of Advent, a new Liturgical Year begins in the Holy Catholic Church, marking the cycle of Liturgical celebrations through which we will have the chance to experience all the mysteries of Christ Jesus, His mercy, His love, His care, and the salvation for mankind. "The Season of Advent is a time to Prepare a Profound Heart and Mind for the Lord" We should prepare our hearts and minds for the four weeks of Advent and endeavour to make a good rapport with the Lord before we enter into the celebration of Christmas celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is good to prepare for the Lord it is good to prepare for our Redeemer because redemption comes from Him.
The New Liturgical 2023 Advent Calendar will start with the first Sunday of Advent, and this year it falls on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, the second Sunday of Advent will fall on Sunday, December 10th, 2023, the third Sunday of Advent will fall on Sunday, December 17th, 2023, and the fourth which is the last will fall on Sunday, December 24th, 2023.The Calendar of the the Holy Catholic Church gives the major festivities and Seasons Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time. Each year in the Calendar of the Church the Holy Gospel readings in the Holy Mass celebration are not the same. The Church has compartmentalized the readings into three cycles: A, B, and C for every Sunday. For the Liturgical Year 2022 - 2023 it has corresponded to Cycle A, for the Liturgical Year 2023 - 2024, it will correspond to Cycle B, which concentrates on the Holy Gospel of St. Mark. Hence, the Holy Gospel readings in the Sunday Mass will be predominantly taken from the Holy Gospel according to St. Mark one of the Gospel Writers. For the Liturgical Year 2024 - 2025 it will be corresponding to Cycle C.
"If we prepare for the Lord, then we are ready for the Lord." And whoever prepares for the Lord will be joyous for the Lord.
